|Wall of cake!|
Yesterday The Boy and I took a little day trip for his 40th Birthday. I'd bought him some vouchers for Pie & Vinyl in Portsmouth for Christmas and thought it would be great to explore the Southsea area for the day. I'll blog more about Pie & Vinyl soon, needless to say they sell Pie and Vinyl!
I haven't been to Southsea for years, other than going to the Wedgewood Rooms to see bands! I put a shout out on Facebook to see where would be good for Coffee and Cake and it was unanimous.......The Tenth Hole! So after a day spent wondering around the junk shops of Albert Road, Fawcett Road, and Elm Grove, and of course Pie & Vinyl on Castle Road, we headed down to the seafront for a brisk walk and then on to The Tenth Hole on Eastern Parade.
I'd been told by friends that The Tenth Hole has the largest array of cakes imaginable, and in flavours you've never come across before....and they were right. It's set in what appears to be an old Cricket Pavilion between a cricket pitch and a pitch and put course. As you walk in you are greeted by what feels like a wall of cakes, all beautifully presented and as warned, in more flavours than you can shake a stick at! I spent a good 5 minutes trying to choose and landed on the Banoffee Pie (not literally!). It was super yummy with just the right ratio of crust/toffee/banana/cream. I must have inhaled it in about 30 seconds flat!
Not only does The Tenth Hole do cakes, and in generous portions may I add, but it also does an array of savoury food, with choices for all the family......and from what I could see the portion sizes were great for the savoury food too. And if you fancy a real treat I'd recommend the High Tea, a family over the way had this and it looked beautiful!
There's lots of seating inside and out, and they not only provide blankets for outside seating but hot water bottles too! AMAZING!
If you're in Southsea you must make a stop off at The Tenth Hole, I'm already planning a return trip!
Happy Tuesday my lovelies. xx
